Product review: Pillow Talk by Modern Habitat.

Image
Note: This is not a paid review . In fact, I forked out own money to purchase two pillows-another one for husband- after suffering from neck pain and poor quality of sleep despite sleeping for more than eight hours.  According to Sleep Foundation webpage, the body restores and repairs itself during sleep. Sleeping position is the key to determine the quality based on how effective the natural spine curvature is being supported.  I have hard and soft pillows, but lately both have been giving me new aches and pains in the morning. I even had the problem to fall asleep as the pain has started to sink in as I was ready to sleep.  What are the good sleeping positions?  The website suggested sleeping on the side or back is considered more beneficial than sleeping on the stomach.  Both positions, it’s easier to keep your spine supported and balanced, which relieves pressure on the spinal tissues and enables your muscles to relax and recover. For some unknown rea...

That friend with different wavelength

Covid-19 pandemic has been severely affecting Malaysia for more than a year since March 2020. With the rolling out of vaccines against the virus, the situation does not turn better but the opposite. The slow vaccination process and people are being sceptical about it gave enough time for Covid-19 to mutate into a more aggressive virus to wipe out the world.  As Malaysia daily cases hit a record high of more than 8,000 people infected by the virus, many have taken their frustration on social media especially when the leader announced total lockdown at the eleventh hour.  Since not many people read here, I feel less guilty channeling my emotion through this blog. After reading those negative thoughts poured at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts, it evoked my emotions over a same person's response over similar question.  Since March last year until recently, he would ask whether I visited my parents during Mother's, Father's, Easter, Winter Solstice, harvest festival, Chr...

How much I spent on two dogs?

Image
For their anti flea and ticks, I am spending around RM200 for two dogs for three months. I bought these items from Harvest Fish and Pet store in Penampang near Servay.  For the vaccine, which is the 9-in-1 type. It is RM75 per dog per year.

How much is too much to have a pregnant coworker to say "I can't go to work today because I'm pregnant"?

Image
The title itself is indeed sound very mean towards a pregnant mother who keeps on skipping work because she is expecting.  Just like how some people are having bad menstrual period every month that they can't even to go to school, work or even go about their daily lives. I get it!!! I am also a working mother who used to carry my big belly but I obliged to my duty as required.  I do feel lucky that my discomforts- morning sickness, swollen feet and fatigue- during pregnancy were tolerable. Still, I still turned up and would not simply call the office for a sick leave because I know it would trouble others.  Even for monthly antenatal checkup, by virtue, one should take a leave for those appointments. Who would do the pregnant coworker's job? Every employee in an organisation has their own role and workload. Can you imagine by having someone taking leave, and you are given her job on top of what you have to finish? Will the boss pay you more as you are doing two-person job...

Huawei Band 3 spoilt exactly three days after the warranty void.

Image
Bought this Huawei Band 3 smartwatch few days before my birthday last year.  The price was RM239. It is slightly expensive than those I used to buy. Since it is Huawei, I thought it would last longer, but the same fate happened to it.  But I won't deny it is a better version of smartwatch as it tracked the steps better.  My previous watch even recorded my hand movement in playing drum or bumpy car ride as "steps".  However, as for tracking my distance/stride, the ability for Huawei watch is slightly lacking.  I ran on a 400-metre track, but the GPS gave less distance for that measured distance.  If you are concern about your sleep, this band gives quite precise analysis. Another plus point is the charging method, instead of diassamble the piece, this model allows user to charge it directly using USB cable.  Its waterproof feature also allowed me to track my swimming activities and bring it to shower. Somehow, I wonder whether bringing them into water m...

18 Again [Korean Drama] on Valentine's day.

Image
Have you watched this korean drama titled "18 Again" starred by Kim Ha Neul, Lee Do-Hyun and Yoon Sang Hyun? This drama got me broke into tears for several times and of course staying all night to catch up every episode. Basically the storyline was about the man regretted his choice over pregnant teen girlfriend than his promising career in basketball. His sacrifice led to the marriage falling apart. He got the chance to be young again.  However, such an opportunity still asserts his initial intention he made 18 years ago. Being young again made him realised of the gaps that he had to fill in to make the marriage and family well again.  It was my first time seeing Kim Ha Neul acting in a drama, am so surpised of how she does not look like her current age which is 42 (in 2021). Wondering how she keep up with the youthful and superb skin past 40s.  Husband and I have been married for more than 10 years. It is definitely there are ups and downs that happened in marri...

How to Embrace a Minimalist Lifestyle: 5 Things I’m Not Buying This Year

Image
Embarking on a Minimalist Journey   Adopting a minimalist lifestyle isn't something that happens overnight. After reading *Minimalism* by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus during last year’s lockdown, I realised the importance of living with less to achieve greater happiness, contentment, and freedom from materialism. Inspired by Marie Kondo’s approach to decluttering—keeping only what “sparks joy”—I’m challenging myself to embrace the minimalist mantra of “only what you need.” But it’s not easy. Parting with items I already own often brings guilt, knowing they’ll likely end up in a landfill. To stay on track, I’ve created a list of things I’m not buying this year to reduce unnecessary clutter at home. 1. Notebooks and Physical Planners   I already have a collection of notebooks and planners. In today’s digital age, I mostly take notes on my mobile devices or apps. While I enjoy the occasional scribble on paper, I’ve decided to use the notebooks I already hav...

Lockdown is a money growing opportunity.

Image
Growing money vctor image by Freepik Covid-19 pandemic has indeed affect many people, forcing them to be part of the unemployment statistics. Myself is also not exempted from the threats of losing my sunset industry job.  Been working with the company for nine years. These few recent years, there has been multiple announcements on retrenchment and downsizing exercises.  Strangely, the bosses would decide to do it at the advent of Chinese New Year. Do they think that breaking the news during that time will be good for those celebrating the festival?  Having enough with the emotional torture from the company, I decided that 2021 will be the year I get better in money managing including getting involved in investment.  There is always opportunity when the crisis occurs.  I have to give credit to husband on teaching me this valuable lesson. That's why they say marry someone who is better than you, then you will be motivated to go on same direction.  Apart from ...

People changed after months of lockdown?

Image
It is February now. But the country is still under semi-lockdown.  Semi lockdown is totally a wrong choice of words. It is either lockdown or not a lockdown.  But, the politicians in my beloved countries just could not make up their mind about the rulings. Anyhow, as the government allows dine-in with 2-people at a table. I thought of spending part of my 4 hours me-time every Wednesday to hangout with a friend by having a  quick coffee, or "yumcha" session.  That person used to be a close friend who went for food tasting here and there before Covid-19. It had been months since we met each others. Out of all the things I wanted to do on my off day as a mom who juggles work and homeschool my daughter, I chose to spend time with the friend.  It was because she agreed to it that I made time for it.  Unexpectedly, most of the time she was gluing her eyes to a laptop designing a Chinese New Year greeting card for her boss.  There were minimal eyes contact du...
