Review on Raintree Beach Resort in Tuaran

Image
Found Raintree Beach Resort while searching for weekend getaway. Booking websites portrayed the resort has a lot of activities and well-maintained facility. But all those pictures were outdated or maybe photoshoped. The resort, which is located about 40 kilometres from town, is worth to its cheaper rate. I have a deal of RM150++ per night for a Villa on weekday via direct booking via Raintree Facebook. The admin foretold that there were swimming, barbeque and volleyball facility among others. But, he or she did not mention there was no restaurant. So, breakfast is definitely not included for the deal. The check in time is at 2pm. We took our own sweet time to drive to the location, guided with Waze application. The place is located far from Tuaran town, which is about 18 minutes drive. We got lost a bit as confused by roadside signboard. Asked an elderly woman at a village, she said she only heard about Mimpian Jadi, Rasa Ria and Karambunai. Tried again…then finally ...

Unboxing the sad memory within the brain box.

Image
Grey's anatomy season 12 is all about recalling memories. It says it is very unique on how the brain arranges memories on different people. The saying makes sense to me when an ex, perhaps the first love, approached me again recently. The so-called relationship happened when I was 16. I was intrigued that the four years senior at school wanted me to become his girlfriend.  We went out for only one date and bade farewell two days later as the ex departed to Indonesia for a five years of sailor course. During the farewell, he asked me to wait for him to come back and gave a cheek kiss. He looked sincere and I was naive. I had foolishly believed we could withstand the long distance relationship for 5 years.  For almost a year, I had been hopeful on the relationship...until his then girlfriend broke the news that I became third party between them. I got the scolding and thought it was so unfair to me. Thus I would be mad whenever he wis...

Impression Saloon at Karamunsing complex.

Image
A friend's friend recommended this 6-seater hair saloon at Karamunsing complex to me. Gave it a try since I had my car serviced nearby the shopping complex. Upon my arrival at about  10am , the good-looking boss known as Kent welcomed me. Briefed me about the price and estimate time to do rebonding on shoulder-blade length hair. The 30-year-old Chinese boss told his female employee to do the necessary.  Unlike other typical hairdresser, this Malay woman by the name of Tina was quite soft spoken and didn't complain on my troublesome hair thickness. She just did her job as necessary. Her male colleague Kang was quite a kind person as he helped her to handle my voluminous hair. It took about 2 hours for my hair to be done. Was listening to Chinese and Malay songs played at the saloon all those while. The boss is quite responsible as he ensure quality control on every hair his staff are doing. He even uses scaling machine to measure right amount of...

A kampung girl whose ultimate goal is to find man- even it jeopardises her life.

Image
If I ever struck by psychiatric illness it is mostly due to my babysitter. After work, the not-so-good feeling will emerge as I will be facing her at home. She is 27, very good with child, but tends to believe love is above all(including God).   About three years back, she gave birth to a boy out of wedlock. A couple from Kota Belud fostered the child. She said she had to give up the child to pay the 'sogit' (local customs of penalising the people for going against the norms) and of course can't afford to raise the child on her own. A year later, my mom recommended the girl who is also my distant cousin to babysit my then three-month-old baby. Of course, mom told me about what had happened to her but assured she was experienced in caring for children. When she started working with me, I got shock during her off days she would ask to stay overnight at someone's places. It was on her first week of off days. Frustrated. I complained to mom abo...

Guidebook for Maxis 3G broadband plan to check quota balance, change username and password.

Image
In the era of advance technology- Video call- at cheaper rates as compared to a century ago. I just have to get extra data to connect with my husband, who is away from home for study. Subscribed the 3G Maxis Broadband plan 4G peak hours (8am- 2am) and 4G off peak hours (2am-8am) at RM68 per month. The staff at Imago Maxis store literally just asked me to fill up a 6-month contract form, explained on the rebate and where to get the WiFi password, paid the activation fee of RM150 and bye-bye. That time I wasn't sure on what to ask until I started using it (the device is usable after two hours upon activation). After two hours, I connect mobile phone to the device. I find the password given was too tedious. That was the time when I was puzzled where to change them, how to check the quota and etc. There was a small guideline booklet came with the starter pack. But a two-year-old toddler had played and misplaced it before I wanted to have a look for it. Googled it online ...

Restoran Geylang Lor9 (Fresh Frog Porridge) Lintas Square

Image
The famous frog meat delicacy from Geylang, Singapore has arrived in Kota Kinabalu!! The newly opened international chain Geylang Lor9 (wholly owned by Strategy Achievement Sdn Bhd) at Lintas Square (behind Maybank) will definitely make someone to say yes to the “exotic” food and look forward to next visit. Before I reveal the signature delicacies of the restaurant, let me share on why fresh frogs are good for human being especially growing children. According to its managing director Andy Goh, Chinese believes the meat has high protein and low fats. “They feed frog porridge to young kids, especially those who just start to toddle around. “It is like whichever part of body is weak, you eat certain part of frog to strengthen them,” he said during a recent opening of the restaurant. Andy and his partner Soh Cheng Boon realised there were demands on frog meats among people as they traveled to many places including Singapore, Cambodia and other Southeast Asia count...
