MALAYSIA TO REACH OLD AGE COUNTRY STATUS BY 2030

Image
Feb 22, 2016 Source from New Straits Times JOHOR BAHRU: The women, family and Community Development Ministry has set up a  special task force to look into the needs of senior citizens by 2030. Its deputy minister, Datin Paduka Chew Mui Fun, said a study by the ministry showed  that the life expectancy rate in the country had increased from 71.4 years in 2005 to 72.5 years   in 2015 for males and 76.2 years (2005) to 77.4 years (2015) for females. This means that Malaysia will achieve Old Age Country status, where 15 per cent of the population  would be 60 and above, by 2030. She said the setting up of the taskforce, which had its first meeting last Friday, was crucial in preparing  the needs and requirements of the elderly, especially when life expectancy rates were high. “We will be in talks with the Performance Management Delivery Unit (Pemandu) as well  as other agencies, such as Health Ministry and Employees Provi...

What to expect in a house with four male doctors who are also doing Masters Degree?

Image
I had recently visited husband’s house during Chinese New Year break. Although I have been expecting the house will be messy, but I still shocked with the condition. Things in the kitchen seem to be never touched by the house residents, thus dust, and other oily stuff stuck there and hardly removed. After cleaning them up, just realised the kitchen does not even have a proper knife. I had to use butter knife to chop off my onion. The whole household went back to their hometown during the festival week, but none of them switch off the fridge. It is quite dangerous should there’s short circuit but also good thing because it has prevented perishable and some even had expired to stay “fresh” for longer period.  Pity those who live in Kelantan where the water quality is at the lowest. The residents then have been drinking bottled water thus this house seems to appear like a Recycle Center for plastic bottles. The “mini gymnasium” for the guys whenever...

Love is for everyone, you just need some luck and hardwork.

Last month I listened enough not-so-proper relationships going on among circles of friends.  One of them is a mother of two young children who separated with the husband. As a mother whose husband is away, I truly understand the hardship to raise a child on my own. The woman's male colleague, of a different religion, is willing to look after the mom and sons. Perhaps the assistance that drives the woman to stay with that man, and impregnated. But again due to religion differences and she is still considered as a woman who is still married to husband, not much can be done. Therefore, she carries the baby without a legit father. While we heard endless cheating husbands/boyfriends stories, but it could happen to women. A lady was boyfriends-hopping whenever she travels. The man, who claims himself to be victimised by those kinds of female-version Casanova, was sought after the lady's marriage out of pregnancy didn't work out.  "Some said it was the husba...

How I manage my #Terribletwo toddler?

Image
My toddler at 2.5-year-old. When she turns 2 last year, I was thinking to myself whether I could handle the #terribletwo episodes for twelve months alone. Six months have passed, I am glad I could pull through because it doesn’t seem to occur on daily basis. I would describe it as once in a blue moon. She is quite a happy child, eating and sleeping well, her social anxiety has subsided, talkative and basically growing up like other healthy and normal children. Among the behaviours that make her slightly different from others and gain attention from adults are her dress code and some thoughts. My dear’s hair grows much slower that she feels the need to use a towel or shawl to make the hair “long” so she could look more like Queen Elsa (Frozen) or Princess Sofia. She’ll use that cloth day and night except sleeping time. Therefore, I have extra weaning task at hand. The other thing is this girl likes to run speedily. There was one time she just let go of my ...

Reflect for the future 2016

Image
As the clock ticking past midnight  entering new year 2016, I kept on pondering on resolutions to be made for this year.  I like to set something which seem to go beyond my known capabilities but still achievable and practical.  For the next 1.5 year, I will still be taking care of my 29-month toddler by myself as husband is furthering Masters in peninsular Malaysia. Therefore, this challenge has been put into consideration on setting the resolutions. I am hoping to do something which will not jeopardise quality parent-child time.  As usual, I have set to run 500-kilometres running with deadline   two years from now . Should be no problem to complete it.  Secondly, to apply online Masters programme at my Alma Mater. Have tried to stay up late and wake up at  7am  to get ready for wor. Wow, that's tiring and I guess coffee will become my best friend for at least three years and ouch, the caffeine definitely will dry up my sk...
