Tips on how to be a welcomed intern.

Being freshly graduated or just in final year is not an excuse for an intern to be slack or being too dependent on seniors. After years of exposure to knowledge in University, those preparation should be equipped a newbie to be useful for 40 per cent in any organisation. It would be unfortunate for everyone if the intern does not score well or being serious in his or study as the seniors end up in teaching from the VERY basic or precisely babysitting them while there are already tonne of work. Internship is supposed to be beneficial for both interns in terms of gaining experience and staff is to share load. On first few days, it is understandable anyone new to a company need time to adjust or understand their roles. Be nice and humble to staff in the office including cleaners, do say Hi and please introduce yourself. The staff need to know what to call you, or the purpose a new face is hanging around the property. Learn as fast as possible on Do's and Don'ts.  The typical unacc...

Sabah ice cream that won international award

Image
Had a chance to taste the ice cream with goji berry flavor.  Its cover is plastic, and the cup of about 100cc is made of paper. Looked around but there is no Halal logo, nor the calories amount. Surprise, it is in orange color. Sweetness is 6.5/ 10.  And it is really creamy... Have no idea how much it is priced. Only know that its selections of other seven flavors are using local ingredients- mango, tongkat ali, vanila, chocolate, coffee and etc. It is labelled as Sabah Froz product, but owner of the company is Datuk Nasir from Sandakan. They are available at Sutera horbour Marina jetty.

Toddler friendly food at Wisma Kinsabina, Penampang.

Image
Dined at Wisma Kinsabina, along Jalan Penampang after sunset mass recently. Brought along a 13-month-old toddler for the feast, thats why I was entitled to order kid's meal. There are about three choices- but I guess Dragon ball pasta would suit toddler best. Initially, I thought the chicken balls would be big..but the title implies the seven dragon balls of marble size. Being sceptical on outside food will always have MSG, but chef at Wisma Kinsabina is so considerate. The smiley potatoes are baked and only sprinkled with minimal salt. While the paste for pasta has concentrated tomatoes purees. That dragon ball is minced and soft.  However, that bread stick was too sweet for me. thus, excluded it for good review. Price is RM14 per plate. (I shared with baby).  I am a sweet tooth person, thus going for Pavlova as I never tried it before although heard its goodness many times from everyone. This is how it looks like... Rm14 for a pavlova stuck with a set of macaroon accompanied...

Gaya Street in Sabah.

Image
Gaya Street, or the Sunday morning market, lined up with hundreds of stalls along five blocks of the central city of Kota Kinabalu is a must-visit for visitors. For shutterbugs, this is also a good place to get good pictures. Pictures attached are the recommended buying at the market. Pearls. Seafood balls ( prawn, octopus, and crab crackers) originated from East Coast Sabah will definitely promise unforgetful craving after one try. Price ranges from RM5- RM30 depending on packaging sizes. Orchids and other plants. Sellers are usually friendly enough to share caring tips.  There are also pets on sale, but didnt take pictures as it is not allowed. I like the traditional crafting made from woods, or even shells. But haven't buy any yet as I am busy handing fast growing toddler.  It is definitely going to be a happy walk under the Sunday sun as the street will be aired with country or Chinese oldies songs. Even traditional gongs sound. Otherwise, get a free Tenom coffee aroma- Ar...

Sabah Kampung Nelayan BBQ and steamboat buffet review.

Image
This is the place for someone who is intensely hungry and could eat worth or more than RM35. There are various of dishes ranging from normal processed fish, meat and crab balls; marinated poultry; vegetables; dessert and sushi.  There are also about 20 types of condiments. Those items are either ready cooked, to be boil in tom yam/chicken soup or stir fried as shown at the attached picture. I am not sure how long has it been opened, but surely long enough that tableware are either have some cracks, dimples or worn out signs. Thus, the appearance has upset me a bit as those symbolise unlucky for diners. As the restaurant is serving hundreds customers a day, I doubt that there will be strict quality control than just for the sake of having what they have to served to be on the serving table. For examples, will they wash off pesticide substance on each and every leaf of vegetables? Will they look out on the excessive fruits exposed to air? Do they use boiled water or just melted ice c...

11-month old baby was struck by Roseola virus.

Image
Baby fell sick about two weeks ago but resolved few days later, she was not that severe but the chesty cough persisted till she had another round of high fever of 39 degree celcius this week. It was frightening as she was hardly responsive to antipyretic, cold patch on foreheads and tepid spinge that I was afraid she would have a fit.  The situation went on for five days that I had to take three days emergency leave to take care of her. babysitter got panic also whe she took care of her alone at home. A lot of thought went into my mind on what's wrong? Could it be dengue? Or other more severe diseases such as Thalassaemia, cancers, and others?  I prayed hardly on her third night to St Jude to lower her temperature and shed light on what's going on. Surprisingly, it helped. She was okay the next morning, her head felt warm and was more cheerful. Not long after that, before night bedtime, few spotty rash appeared around jawline and behind ears. Whole body was full with rashes bu...

breastfeeding at 1-year-old baby

Image
Baby is turning one in few more days, but she still prefers having milk directly from my boobs. I am okay with the situation as direct breastfeeding saves time as I don't have to sterilise bottle and prepare the milk in the midst of travelling or at night time. It is just that baby is getting taller/longer that breastfeeding would preferably take place at spacious area. On which brand breastpump that I used to express milk at workplace? I bought Medela, an electrical single pump worth about RM100.  But found out that machine could not yield as much milk despite I'd spent about half hour in washroom, perhaps its my technique or small boobs size also that there was still incident of engorgement after pumping.  Other thing that bother me was the availability to sterilise the equipment. It was by accident that I chose to hand-express milk until today, I left pump several time as I rushed to work. And as I had no choice that time, I just use hands to do the job. Surprisingly,...
