Majority of Sabah people want state government to impose smoking ban.

When the Health Ministry announced on imposing smoking ban at eateries on Oct in 2018, I could be among majority who had been suffering passive smoking who jumped for joy over the regulations.

Sadly, Sabah government ministers are not for the laws when it is supposed to come into effect on Jan 1, 2019. It is only after the implementation that they want to have cabinet meeting to discuss whether or not to go for it.

It is even annoying to learn that those new state ministers have yet to come back to work from December long leave whereas other children have began their school albeit being reluctant to attend on the first day of 2019. (I am trying to say, newbies or rookies should work hard and learn as much as possible….they should not celebrating their victory or taking rest for so long after assuming the office for just 7 months).

Netizens have been slamming the ignorance and S**** of comments made by some reachable ministers. It is surprising on how they deem banning people smoking at eateries would affect business at restaurants, there are many smokers who will be ended in jail for failing to pay hefty fine, and worse a state tourism minister is worried that our country has to ban/fine tourists who break the law by smoking at eateries.

Of all the baseless or assumptive comments/opinions/perspectives….below are my justification that the state government should just say yes to smoking ban at eateries.

1/ For the first six months, the Health Ministry would only give warning letters to smokers. Give it a try ministers!!!

2/ Think it economically….there are earnings and expenses. You save business operators but the health sectors spending 100x to treat smokers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (these patients will drain out the resources). Not to forget the treatment cost for non smokers who get complications from being passive smoking.

3/Funny how this tourism minister is ignorant that no one is above law, and tourists have to be Romans when they come to Rome. Fine them…

4/It is so unfair for patrons to inhale unwanted fumes that can cause cancer...
