Tambunan Charity Run 2016

Sign up for Tambunan Kaamatan Charity Run 2016 and you will be cheered by beauty pageants of 2015 Unduk Ngadau and and 2015 Tambunan Bamboo and Ginger Festival at the finishing line.

If you are not into the picture of beautiful ladies giving out the medals, the beats of the gongs will definitely set the mood and motivate runners.

For the second year, to be held on April 17, the distance for the charity run has been extended to 13 kilometres from 11 kilometres last year.

There will also be a 3km or 5.5km for VIPs to join in.

As early as 6.30pm, participants will be flagged off from Pisompuruan Square in Tambunan town and across several villages.

Joining fees will be RM75 for 300 early bird slots, RM90 for 800 normal slots and RM100 for 100 angry bird slots.

Registration can be made online at Eventbrite or manual registration at Performance Sports in Likas and Tambunan district office. Deadline will be on March 7.

The prizes and lucky draw will be totalled up to RM5,000.

The organising chairperson Patrisha Kitingan said they were expecting to raise RM95,000 to be donated to Rumah Kanak-Kanak Bondulu, Asrama Butitin in Nabawan and Community-based rehabilitation centre in Tambunan.

Last year, the event managed to raise RM62,100 for the Rumah Kanak Kanak Bondulu in Nabawan.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan who is also Tambunan assemblyman said the charity run was a prelude to the launching of state-level Kaamatan Celebration in Tenom on May 1.

"Besides promoting the tourism destination in Tambunan, the run is a way for us to heed doctors' advice to have healthy lifestyle."
