UNDRIP-United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

On August 9, the world will celebrate World Indigenous people.A programme which is supported by the United Nation.

Indigenous-  originating in and characteristic of a particular region or country; native (often followed by to ):

According to the JAOS (Indigenous peoples network Malaysia) commitee members, in Sabah, there are around 80 ethnics which considered as indigenous, which include Kadazan, Dusun, Murut, Rungus, Bajau, Kadayan, Suluk (and not to forget the mixed marriage of Sino-natives)....but not malay, chinese, Indian and BUGIS.

Not to be racist here, but that is the fact.

Well, it is good to be recognized as the original people of this land, however, the invaders have sort of jeopardising their human rights particularly on land issue.

In fact, the land that they have inhabited for so long are their valuable sources for life continuity.

Having exploited for many years, they are now know their rights and ready to fight together with other NGOs, include SUHAKAM and other activists.

P/s: Since I am a Kadazan, yeah, I should celebrate the day, too.

I would like to share the JOAS video on the indigenous people.
